Today’s Action: Demand a thorough and fair FBI Investigation for Kavanaugh

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is driving toward a vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by this weekend. But the FBI has concluded their “supplemental background check” without interviewing multiple key witnesses who have been struggling to contact the investigators.

Some of those gaps? Kavanaugh himself, his first and third accusers Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Julie Swetnick (whose statement was not even addressed in this investigation), and names identified by his second accuser, Deborah Ramirez

The report will also not be made available to the public or the press — ensuring secrecy of exactly how much McConnell and Trump skewed the findings through their handcuffing of the FBI’s scope.

This is a scam, a fallacy of actual justice and truth. Dr. Ford, Ms. Ramirez, and Ms. Swetnick deserve a thorough investigation — and so do we.

Call or email your Senators and demand they call for a proper and thorough FBI examination — not the gap-ridden, GOP-manipulated supplemental background check provided by McConnell and Trump.

Before allegations of sexual misconduct emerged, Kavanaugh was already the most scandal plagued Supreme Court nominee in modern history, having lied and misled the Senate under oath even as Republicans refused to disclose thousands of documents relevant to his nomination. He was also handpicked for his position against prosecuting sitting presidents and his opposition to Roe v. Wade.

And yet, Kavanaugh, Trump, and Senate Republicans’ handling of these sexual assault allegations is worse yet. Republicans have sent a signal that they want Kavanaugh confirmed not because they don’t believe he has committed these heinous acts but because they don’t care.

That is beyond unacceptable. For Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Deborah Ramirez, and Julie Swetnick, we must be better. For the countless victims inspired by their courage to come forward with their own stories, we must be better. For the integrity of the Supreme Court, the Senate, and the future of our country, we must be better.

Email or call (202.224.3121) your Senators and tell them we MUST have a thorough FBI investigation of Brett Kavanaugh, not one dictated by Trump and McConnell to ensure the GOP agenda stays on top.
