Today’s Action: Call Senators to demand they pass the HEROES Act before August recess

The Republicans are panicking. GOP Senators up for reelection this November know their voters need a strong financial safety net to survive the pandemic; but those who aren’t about to lose their jobs don’t want to pass anything at all. Meanwhile, Trump is on his own planet, pushing for policies that literally no one else supports.

But Democrats are standing their ground, united in the policies we need. The HEROES Act, passed by the House, has broad support with the economic, public health, and election protection voters need and want. And now that 32 million people’s emergency unemployment assistance has expired, Republicans are on serious defense.

Democrats must stay strong in these crucial next few days of negotiations.

Email or call your Senators and demand they stop blaming unemployed people for Trump’s great mistakes – pass the HEROES Act in full to extend the boosted unemployment assistance.

We’re well beyond 150,000 deaths and rising further at rapid rates. The GOP, despite its political claims to the contrary as they seek to control women’s bodies, clearly does not care about life. But they do care about getting re-elected.

This week, more than any other week, we need to call their offices. Every. Single. Day. Flood the phones to show them the life or death urgency in passing a stimulus package that actually addresses unemployment, election safety and security, hazard pay for essential workers, and funding for cash-strapped states.

What are they waiting for?

Call (202.224.3121) or email your Senators and tell them that the only acceptable outcome of this week’s negotiations is passing the HEROES Act. We needed robust unemployment assistance, boosted election safety, housing security, and worker protections…two months ago.
