Today’s Action: We. Still. Need. A. Stimulus. Package.

It’s been four months since the House passed the HEROES Act, a $3.4 trillion economic stimulus and virus relief package. And Republicans have hedged since – first, not considering ANY package until days before August recess, and then remaining resolute on a $1 trillion package even after Democrats offered to lower their target to $2.2 trillion.

Trump and Congressional Republicans are now trying to drop their package even further, to $500 billion. It doesn’t come close to covering what our country needs right now. And every day they delay, we creep closer to 200,000 fatalities and a recession that may take years to recover from.

Call or email your Senators and tell them we need strong support to survive this pandemic, not Republican scraps: boosted unemployment assistance, stimulus checks, election protections, and funding for states, small businesses and the USPS.

With the election exactly two months away, it is imperative that the Senate completes the work that the House started: securing safety measures for voters and poll workers alike, and ensuring USPS has the necessary funding to deliver our ballots on time.

With many industries still shut down or operating under limited capacity, it is imperative that the Senate passes boosted unemployment assistance and stimulus checks, rental and mortgage aid, student loan forgiveness, and support for small businesses through this crisis.

With essential workers risking their lives to keep our economy afloat, and other working class and poor facing a lack of basic needs, it is imperative that the Senate passes hazard pay, food and housing funding.

Senate Republicans must choose to help the voters who elected them.

Email or call (202.224.3121) your Senators and demand they pass the HEROES Act. Give them a few examples of how the HEROES Act would help you and your community – and remind them that absolutely every American deserves the right to vote without risking their life.
