Today’s Action: Tell Congress to pass pandemic relief THIS WEEK

Over 300,000 Americans have died, and we’re averaging nearly 200,000 new cases per day. But Republicans have refused to send help.

On December 26th, 12 million unemployed people will lose their benefits. But Republicans have refused to send help.

On December 31st, 12 million renters behind on rent will lose their eviction moratorium in the dead of winter. But Republicans have refused to send help.

And states continue to struggle funding basic public services, including testing sites and schools. But Republicans have refused to send help.

The refusal must end now – we cannot wait any longer.

Call or email your Senators and demand comprehensive pandemic relief. We need: stimulus checks for families, strong state/local funding, boosted unemployment benefits, eviction protections and rent/mortgage relief, student loan relief…and no liability protections for irresponsible corporations.

Negotiations are underway in Congress. But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has only one aid recipient in mind: corporations. He has been stalling negotiation talks as he attempts to ensure irresponsible and greedy corporations can’t be sued for hurting or killing their employees with this virus via unsafe employment practices and working conditions.

And now, he’s holding all state and local funding hostage by attaching it with a one-to-one trade to these corporate protections.

States and local governments are flailing under deep economic losses. This funding must go through, but without Mitch McConnell’s personal gift to greedy and murderous CEO’s.

Email or call (202.224.3121) your Senators and demand robust pandemic funding, not a liability-free handout to irresponsible corporations who have killed their workers. Be specific – share what you or your family/community members specifically need.
