Court rules that gunmaker can be sued over marketing assault rifle that was used in Sandy Hook shooting

A federal law passed in 2005 was intended by the Republican Congress and president to protect gunmakers from liability when their arms are used in the commission of crimes. But today a judge said that law does not apply in the lawsuit that names Remington, which makes the Bushmaster rifle used in the massacre in 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut.
