Today’s Action: Visit your Senators during recess!
We’re still waiting for the Senate calendar to be set, as Mitch McConnell plots how to rig the impeachment trial for Trump. But in the meantime, Congress is still home for the holidays, and the timing couldn’t be more critical for facetime with our Senators.
Contrary to popular belief, McConnell is not the Senate’s dictator, and our Senators can stop him if we apply pressure — so that’s exactly what we’ll do.
Call or email your Senators to set up an in-person meeting, or demand they schedule a Town Hall, during the Congressional recess. And then, tell them anything less than a completely fair and transparent trial of Trump’s crimes, as detailed in Senator Schumer’s proposal will be completely unacceptable to you and the law.
Trump is the first president in our country’s history to be impeached and then run for re-election. And he has done so with the keen assistance of Mitch McConnell, who has been the GOP’s biggest roadblock since well before Trump.
McConnell blocked, unconstitutionally, Obama’s replacement for Supreme Court by refusing to hold a vote. And he has gleefully blocked over 150 House bills from ever reaching the floor of the Senate, denying them the chance to face a vote.
McConnell needs to feel the pressure from every single Senator, Democrat and Republican, to allow a fair, just trial of Trump’s crimes. Because if he doesn’t, he’s already told us what comes next.
Email or call (202.224.3121) your Senators for an in-person meeting during recess – or ask them to schedule a Town Hall. Tell them face-to-face that the Constitution requires they hold a fair and open trial, like the process Senator Schumer has proposed.
