Today’s Action: Demand real pandemic relief in the spending bill

Senate Republicans have released a spending bill in preparation for next month’s lame duck, must-pass deadline to avoid a government shutdown. It will come as no surprise that it does absolutely nothing to address the pandemic, while including more funding for Trump’s stupid border wall and immigrant detention centers.

More than 240,000 Americans are now dead, millions still without work, and countless others have survived the virus only to face months of crippling recovery and potentially lifelong physical damage. The country sent a clear referendum on Trump’s mismanagement of this crisis…but Senate Republicans have refused to acknowledge the message (or the literal votes, for that matter.)

Call or email your Senators and demand comprehensive pandemic relief in the upcoming spending bill. We need: stimulus checks for families, extra unemployment benefits, eviction protections and rent relief, student loan relief, funding for vaccine distribution, and more.

Most of the remaining (albeit mediocre) protections we still have are set to expire December 31st. For millions of families who are barely scraping by, this crisis is about to look even worse unless Senate Republicans acknowledge how dire the situation is.

The Senate must face up to the hard truth that a lot more Americans are about to die or find themselves homeless as winter sets in, and the losses and pain are on Republican shoulders. We need real relief in the upcoming spending bill.

Email or call (202.224.3121) your Senators and demand robust pandemic funding in the upcoming spending bill. Be specific – share what you personally need or read from the list above.
