Today’s Action: Stop Trump’s Medicaid Denial Scheme
Arkansas and Indiana have now joined Kentucky in implementing work requirements for Medicaid recipients, thanks to Trump’s recent Medicaid denial scheme designed to snatch health coverage away from as many families as possible.
In Kentucky, an expected 95,000 low-income recipients will be dropped within five years. In Arkansas, 39,000 affected within the first year. And 130,000 impacted in Indiana. Seven more states are expected to follow Trump’s dangerous formula — if we don’t stop them.
Medicaid is the final safety net for 68 million low-income families, pregnant women, elderly, and people with disabilities who:
- can’t work due to physical and mental health
- live in areas of high unemployment
- are single parents, often with no access to childcare
- are often employed, but can’t earn enough to rise above poverty levels.
By implementing these new excuses to deny health coverage, Republicans aren’t just setting an arbitrary standard that most are unable to fulfill, they’re passing a malicious and misguided ‘moral’ judgment on 68 million people: that poverty is the fault of the poor.
The truth is, most American families are struggling to do the best they can in a country where the deck is stacked against working people by unfair policies like these.
Tell your Governor not to make it worse! Demand Medicaid remain the safety net it was intended to be and tell them lifesaving healthcare shouldn’t be a just privilege of the wealthy.
