Today’s Action: Sign up for the 2022 Climate, Jobs, and Justice Summit!

The past few years have produced severe, record-breaking weather events that are only getting worse. Warm, unstable air in the southeast caused a massive tornado — in February — in Alabama, injuring eight and killing one. A massive ice storm wreaked havoc from Texas to Ohio, leaving over 300,000 people without power. Flash flooding tanked major infrastructure in New York City, causing New Yorkers to wade through waist-high sewage water just to get into the Subway, some with garbage bags around their legs. 2021 yielded some of the worst droughts since record-keeping began well over a century ago.

So far, corporations and legislators are continuing to largely ignore and evade these existential environmental issues. Without significant change from those in power, severe weather patterns will become the devastating norm. Flash flooding, droughts, wildfires, failing infrastructure, pandemics — all symptoms of a sick planet.

The interests of working people are vastly more important than those of corporations lining their pocketbooks with profits. It is not the wealthy that will suffer most from these devastations — that burden will largely be shouldered by working-class families and marginalized communities. Only together do we have the power to help heal the planet. That starts by organizing.

Sign up to attend the 2022 Climate, Jobs, and Justice Summit hosted by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU)!

The two-hour summit takes place Saturday, April 9th. Together, attendees will prepare for Earth Day actions coming up on April 22nd and talk about the challenges and intersections of climate change, economic and racial justice, and more.

We must do everything in our power to reverse the damage done to our planet by decades of rampant, natural resource exploitation — and just two hours out of your Saturday could be a great start.

Sign up to attend the 2022 Climate, Jobs, and Justice Summit today!

PS — Please don’t forget to sign the petition calling upon Biden to secure the release of Brittney Griner and other Russian political prisoners, and be sure to follow OD Action on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
