Today’s Action: Tell the House to block Trump’s arms deal to Saudi Arabia – Vote is TODAY
A big vote is expected in the House today concerning the ongoing Saudi-led genocide in Yemen, as the death toll continues to rise (some reports are above 200,000) and 13 million live on the brink of starvation.
The U.S. holds direct responsibility for many of these deaths, thanks to years of weapons support. But public opinion has turned and Congress has blocked Trump’s weapons sales for months. In retaliation, Trump declared a completely unfounded national emergency to provide an $8 billion weapons sale to Saudi Arabia, defying the will of Congress and voters.
And Congress is fighting back! The Senate has passed 22 resolutions of disapproval – one for each sale – which would terminate the arms deals. They now live in the House.
The Saudi-led war in Yemen is being called the worst humanitarian crisis of our time, and the United States has been fueling the atrocities with weapons and fuel for this brutal genocide.
Trump has continued his praise for the Saudi Arabian regime’s murder of the Yemeni people, possibly due to his own private business interests in Saudi Arabia. And this latest fake national emergency is further fueled by the Trump Administration’s march towards war with Iran, as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed the sale is meant to impede the fabricated conflict.
Ending our involvement permanently in this war has broad bipartisan support. Blocking these 22 sales in the House is the next step.
