Today’s Action: Prepare for Impeachment #2

Last night, the House of Representatives passed a resolution directing Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment and declare President Trump unfit for office.

But Pence preemptively announced his refusal to do his Constitutional duty. So today, the House moves forward with the vote to impeach Trump for the second time. And it’s not just Democrats who are voting yea.

Call or email your representative THIS MORNING and tell them to vote yes on impeachment.

Five House Republicans so far have announced their intention to vote for impeachment, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said he approves of it as well. Even House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy says he won’t lobby his fellow Republicans to vote against impeachment, though he led the charge to overturn the election results in the House.

But before we give any member of the GOP credit for doing the right thing, know this: their major corporate donors are abandoning them for supporting Trump’s coup. Republicans must act fast to distance themselves from Trump after four years of kowtowing to his every repulsive whim, or face the loss of millions of dollars to fund their own re-election campaigns. So much for “patriotic values.”

Trump must be impeached and then convicted. Anything less gives him and other future tyrant wannabees permission to follow this violent playbook to even more horrific results.

The impeachment vote is TODAY. Email or call your representative NOW. Tell them to vote YES on impeachment.
