Today’s action: Debate TONIGHT!
The fifth round of Democratic debates are TONIGHT, and they’ll be happening in the heat of Trump’s impeachment inquiry. It could not be more vital to tune in to see those campaigning to face off replace him in 2020.
Front-runners Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, and Bernie Sanders are still criss-crossing first place in polls as we grow ever-closer to the Iowa caucus (where Pete Buttigieg has taken the lead in a recent poll). And the debate will also feature Cory Booker, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Tom Steyer and Andrew Yang. For introductions, check out our OD Action candidate profiles!
And as the race tightens, we’re seeing casualties: early popular candidate Beto O’Rourke has officially dropped out, and Julian Castro has failed to qualify for this round. There’s no time to waste in securing our best possible Democrat for the 2020 race – and that means examining each stance on progressive issues at the debates.
Tune in tonight for the Democratic presidential debate at 9 PM EST. Watch on MSNBC, or stream at MSNBC.com or washingtonpost.com. Make it fun by hosting a watch-party with your friends and family!
We need a new president. But we don’t want just *any* new president. Just as the Great Depression opened up the doors for FDR and a generation of real progressive reforms, this new Trumpian rock bottom provides an opportunity to elect a president who will truly push America forward on issues like combating climate change, implementing a strong, compassionate immigration policy, valuing women’s and minority rights, enacting tax policies that expand opportunity and benefit the majority of American (not just billionaires and corporations), and so much more.
And just as importantly, we need voters who are fired up. We need Democrats who don’t *just* show up on Election Day (we need that, for sure), but who are also inspired to make phone calls, canvass for candidates, register voters, and donate to help push a Democratic president across the finish line next November.
All of this begins with watching the debates, which helps us sort out whom to rally behind and how we want to be involved. So gather your friends and a few snacks and beverages…and raise a glass to the 2020 election season.
The fifth Democratic presidential debate is TONIGHT. Watch on MSNBC, or stream at MSNBC.com or washingtonpost.com. Get to know the candidates and invite your friends and family to join you for the debate!
