Today’s Action: Tell Congress to keep the government open and fund America’s priorities

Four months into the fiscal year, Republicans have failed to lead Congress through their most essential responsibility of passing a spending bill, relying instead on a series of temporary Band-Aid bills that neglected Americans’ top priorities.

Now, with government funding expiring at the end of the day and Republicans controlling the entire government, Trump and his Congressional enablers have the audacity to suggest that Democrats are to blame for their failures.

Don’t let them get away with it! Contact your Members of Congress by email or at 202.224.3121 and tell them to pass a real spending bill that funds children’s healthcare and keeps our promise to America’s Dreamers!

Democrats have given Republicans an easy out with three overwhelmingly popular demands:

  • Fund the government,
  • renew the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that serves nine million American children,
  • and pass a Dream Act that prevents Trump from deporting 800,000 young people who were brought to America as children.

Each of these three demands has the support of at least two-thirds of the American public as well as the majority of Republican voters. More than that, they are the right things to do, and on each of them, Democrats in Congress have been fighting for their Republican counterparts to act.

All Republican “leaders” need to do is hold a vote on these issues, and the will pass with bipartisan — and full Democratic — support.

But they have refused, bringing us to today’s self-inflicted crisis. Republicans have run out of excuses.

Contact you Members of Congress today. Thank Democrats and tell them to continue to stand firm, and demand Republicans stop the games and do what is right.

If they refuse, let them know it’s a game they will lose this November.
