Today’s Action: Tell Biden to think big with his Civilian Climate Corp!

President Biden is considering the creation of a Civilian Climate Corp, a modern day version of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Civilian Conservation Corp featured in the 1930’s New Deal.

The original CCC employed 3 million men over nine years to build our National Parks into the treasure we enjoy today, as well as planting trees and fighting forest fires. Today’s CCC would modernize our cities’ and towns’ infrastructure with green energy and protect them from the growing impacts of climate change (like forest fires and flooding).

Biden’s idea is good – but it can be so much better!

Call or email your Members of Congress and urge their support for the Civilian Climate Corps for Jobs and Justice Act to tackle climate change head on: 1.5 million jobs for five years!

President Biden’s current plan includes only $10 billion in funding, enough to supply 150,000-200,000 jobs. But the depth of work our country needs to turn climate change around will take ten times that many workers…at minimum.

From installing half a million car charging stations to restoring damaged wetlands to transitioning buildings and homes to green energy, it will take a literal army of Americans committing years of effort to address this real-time crisis.

The Civilian Climate Corps for Jobs and Justice Act does just that, providing 1.5 million jobs for five years. Biden has an opportunity to make history – but he needs a push to be convinced on just how much work needs to be done.

Email or call (202.224.3121) your Members of Congress and demand they support the Civilian Climate Corps for Jobs and Justice Act, to create a 1.5 million strong workforce to address climate change!
