Seriously?

Yes. Seriously.

Today’s Action: Take action the second week of Congressional recess!

We’ve got four more days of Congressional recess before our Members of Congress head back to D.C. This is the BEST TIME to make a big impact on the policies we want to see pass and improve in the coming months!

It may be too late to snag a one-on-one appointment, but other methods are just as or even more effective than a private meeting!

Take action with your Members of Congress this week before recess ends!

Choose your ask! Select ONE topic that your MoC needs to be pushed on:

Choose your strategy – 3 options!

  • Twitterstorm. Select a two-hour window during business hours to invite your community to join you in tweeting at your MoC with your chosen ask. Be sure to share the Twitter handle of your MoC and your preferred hashtags in advance.
  • Call Relay. Organize your community to call your MoC’s office with the same ask. Choose a narrow window of time (ex: 2 hours) and sign folks up by 10 minute slots, so that the phones don’t stop ringing.
  • Throw an event outside your MoC’s office. You don’t need an appointment to make a big impact. Show up with a group and demand to speak with either your MoC or the District or Office Director. Decide in advance who’s doing the talking. Make sure your rep knows you’re their constituents. Take plenty of videos and photos, and either invite the media or send them your footage! But remember: it’s still a pandemic, so require masks and social distancing.

However you take action during this second week of Congressional recess, the important thing is to commit to something. This period of time is our best chance to pass progressive policies before midterms hit and we risk losing the majority. We know Democrats have the potential to do amazing things with the current Congress and White House. Let’s help them get there.

PS — Please don’t forget to sign the petition to call out Republicans for whining about “cancel culture” while boycotting everyone who disagrees with them, and be sure to follow OD Action on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
