Today’s Action: Stop the Kavanaugh vote TODAY in the Senate
The Senate is expected to vote TODAY to close the debate on Supreme Court nominee (and accused sexual assailant) Brett Kavanaugh. If it passes, his confirmation vote will occur as soon as tomorrow morning.
Their vote today will be partially determined by the freshly released and for-their-eyes-only FBI “investigation,” which:
- Began with an exceptionally narrow witness list, handpicked by the GOP
- Did not include ANY interview of Kavanaugh, or his first and third accusers Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Julie Swetnick
- Skipped more than 20 witness names provided by Kavanaugh’s second accuser, Deborah Ramirez, and many others who tried to contact the FBI and received no response
This investigation is a sham, a public disgrace, and a mockery of the courage these women have shown in facing the GOP’s wrath to speak the truth for all our benefit. And our Senators need to hear about it this morning before the vote.
If there was any question as to whether this nomination has been defined by the GOP’s outright hatred of women – from the nomination of a man designated to eradicate Roe v. Wade to the character assassination of Kavanaugh’s accusers – Trump’s recent speech claiming it’s a “scary time” for young men made it perfectly clear.
26 years ago, Senate refused to believe Anita Hill and used a skewed, expedited FBI investigation to discredit her – and that Justice is still on the bench, wielding his power against women’s rights at every turn. Today, we face an identical scenario. This is the Senate’s last chance to show they have learned from their own mistakes.
