Today’s Action: The Senate has reconvened…time to CONVICT TRUMP

Today is our last day with President Trump. Congratulations to each and every one of you, and thank you for your service to this country the past four years in fighting him and his cronies. However, we’re not quite done with Trump. The Senate is back in session, and will begin preparing for his second impeachment trial as soon as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi transmits the articles.

To be completely honest, impeachment isn’t how we wanted or expected to spend the weeks leading up to Biden’s inauguration. Actually, we had hoped to be laying out our goals for pushing life-changing progressive politics through a moderate administration and razor-thin Congressional majority over the next two years, so that we could hit the ground running on January 20th. Rest assured, it’s coming!

But for today, one day before Biden’s inauguration, we must push our Senators to swiftly and resoundingly convict the most criminal president to ever hold office. Call or email your Senators and tell them to hold Trump fully accountable for inciting a violent attempted coup.

With Trump’s second trial rests the precedent of how future fascist-inclined leaders will be treated should they try to subvert the will of American voters. Alongside a conviction, the Senate has the opportunity to ensure Trump can run for office again – cutting off violent MAGA extremists from their cult leader.

Several Republicans have indicated their willingness to consider conviction. Even more have indicated their interest in condemning and distancing themselves from Trump’s coup, including soon-to-be Minority Leader Mitch McConnell – and conviction is their best opportunity to do so. We must keep Democrats committed and successfully swing the 17 Republicans needed to rule a conviction, as the headlines shift in the coming days.

Turn up the heat for conviction.

Email or call (202.224.3121) your Senators and urge them to convict Trump for his sedition of a violent and deadly attempted coup.
