Today’s Action: Honor Christchurch victims by fighting Trump’s Islamophobia

This past Friday, 50 innocent lives were lost at the hands of a white supremacist, who entered two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, and live-streamed as he murdered and injured worshippers with a semi-automatic weapon.

Our hearts ache for the families, the communities, and all Muslims who feel the shockingly real threat of Islamophobia on a daily basis. And we are also hardened by facts: the shooter cited Trump’s anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant policies as inspiration for his act of terror.

March Recess begins this week, and our Members of Congress are at home. If they are hosting a town hall, show up in person and ask them to support and honor the victims of Christchurch by cosponsoring the legislation (H.R. 810, S.246, and the upcoming “No Ban Act” in both chambers) to end the Muslim Ban. If there’s no town hall, call or email.

Trump has shaped global politics with his Islamophobic sentiments, and it’s long past time for Congress to step up and counter his hate-filled, terror-producing policies that have impacted and terrorized the 1.8 billion Muslims here at home and abroad.

Millions of Americans indefinitely blocked from seeing their loved ones. Countless international students unable, deterred, or too frightened to return to school. 5.5 million refugees denied the possibility of safety and protection.

The Muslim Ban was one of Trump’s original campaign promises, a vow to his rabid supporters that he’d keep out an entire religion of adherents (approximately one-fourth of the global population). And now, it has been used to justify horrific acts of violence…and we must end it before it inspires more.

Visit your Members of Congress in-person at a town hall during recess, and demand their support of Muslims everywhere by cosponsoring the legislation to end the Muslim Ban (H.R. 810, S.246, and the upcoming “No Ban Act” in both chambers). If you can’t say it in person, say it via phone or email.
