Today’s Action: Talk to your Reps in person during April Recess!

April Recess is halfway over, but there’s still time to get facetime with your Reps! Your Members of Congress are home through April 26, and now is the perfect time to tell your Representative in-person what you care about the most.

Visit Town Hall Project and Indivisible Event Guide for scheduled Town Hall events. If your representative doesn’t have a recess event, ask them why not! Or, call your Representative and ask for a one-on-one meeting.

Then, choose a few topics from the following, and ask them to take action or cosponsor.

  • [URGENT] Mueller Investigation: Mueller’s report has been released…sort of. Congress has only received a redacted version of the investigation, and the public’s access is even worse. Urge your Representative not to settle for anything less than the full report, all evidence, and public hearings with Mueller, Rod Rosenstein, and other leadership at the Department of Justice and FBI — no excuses.
  • AUMF: Remove Trump’s unilateral power to wage war – repeal the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF). Currently House only – Senate needs sponsor
  • #DefundHate: Cut funding for Trump’s anti-immigration terrorizing tools (ICE and CBP) down to FY16 levels
  • FAMILY Act: Paid time off for family care and medical leave. House/Senate
  • LGBTQ: The Equality Act of 2019 finally adds gender identity and sexual orientation to federal anti-discrimination laws. House/Senate
  • Minimum Wage: $15/hour. Full stop. House/Senate
  • Native Women: Savanna’s Act provides protection for Native women, who face higher-than-average levels of violence. Currently Senate only – House needs sponsor
  • NO BAN Act: Legislation to end hateful, xenophobic Trump’s bans against Muslims, refugees, and asylum seekers. House/Senate
  • Universal Healthcare: The Medicare For All Act of 2019 provides free, single-payer healthcare for everyone, including non-citizens. House/Senate
  • Women: You choose…the Paycheck Fairness Act (Senate only – passed House) or permanent funding for the Violence Against Women Act
  • Yemen: The worst humanitarian crisis of our time, thanks to US weapons. Now that Trump has vetoed the bill to pull U.S. support, ask Congress to overturn veto and take countermeasures.

Last year, we elected a new Congress that would finally do the people’s work. This is our chance to make sure they stay on track.
