Today’s Action: Show up TODAY to tell the FBI to contact new key witnesses in the Kavanaugh investigation

Public pressure is working.

When launching the FBI investigation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, GOP scheming dictated severe limitations on whom the FBI could and could not interview…essentially handcuffing and manipulating any attempt at a fair and thorough investigation.

But thanks to YOUR efforts, three Republican Senators have crossed party lines and joined Democrats in forcing the Trump administration to unshackle the FBI — on Monday, it was announced that the interviewee limitations were lifted.

This move comes just in time, as new evidence shows that Kavanaugh may have lied under oath about his knowledge of Deborah Ramirez’ accusations, and that several important witnesses have still not been able to make contact with (or have been ignored by) the FBI…which means pushing the FBI to do its job is our next step.

Before allegations of sexual misconduct emerged, Kavanaugh was already the most scandal plagued Supreme Court nominee in modern history, having lied and misled the Senate under oath even as Republicans refused to disclose thousands of documents relevant to his nomination. He was also handpicked for his position against prosecuting sitting presidents and his opposition to Roe v. Wade.

And yet, Kavanaugh, Trump, and Senate Republicans’ handling of these sexual assault allegations is worse yet. Republicans have sent a signal that they want Kavanaugh confirmed not because they don’t believe he has committed these heinous acts but because they don’t care.

That is beyond unacceptable. For Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, we have to be better than that. For the countless victims inspired by her courage to come forward with their own stories, we must be better than that. For the integrity of the Supreme Court, the Senate, and the future of our country, we must be better.
