Today’s Action: Don’t let Congress lower the income cap for stimulus checks!

Members of Congress – including many Democrats – are considering lowering the income cap for the upcoming stimulus checks. Meaning, only individuals making up to $50,000 would receive the check, rather than the previous cap of $75,000.

This is unacceptable for two reasons. To begin with, depending on where you live and particularly in many major cities, a $50,000/year barely covers expenses and basic needs. Millions of people living above that income cap are still struggling mightily under the additional burdens of this pandemic.

Second, millions of people lost significant income in 2020 – but for most, the stimulus check will be based on 2019 tax returns.

Call or email your Members of Congress and demand they keep the previous income caps for stimulus checks in place for the upcoming package!

Millionaires in Congress are trying to play games with the basic needs of millions of desperate families – many of whom voted Democrats into power to receive better treatment than they did under the GOP in 2020.

Frankly, we need recurring monthly checks – not a further reduction in who receives scraps of support from our government.

Email or call your Members of Congress and tell them to keep the stimulus check income caps in place – do not reduce!
