Today’s Action: Tell Congress to condemn the genocide of Muslims in China
China has placed over one million Uyghur Muslims into concentration camps. The ethnic minority Turkic Uyghurs number approximately half the population of the resource-rich Xinjiang region of Western China…and they are being disappeared in a real-time genocide that desperately demands global response.
The detained Uyghur Muslims are physically and psychologically tortured, and there are reports of waterboarding and sterilization. The prisoners receive state re-education, and all Uyghurs have been forced to renounce Islam, the practice of which has been criminalized. Activists say the bodies of the dead in the camps are being cremated, so it is difficult to tell how many have been killed thus far.
The bipartisan Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019 condemns these actions.
Call or email your Members of Congress and ask for their aggressive support of the Uyghur Muslims by cosponsoring the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019. If they have already cosponsored (House/Senate), please thank them.
While the Chinese government claims to be battling ‘Islamic extremism,’ activists believe their true intentions are to gain more control over the Xinjiang region, which is rich in natural gas and coal.
Genocide often lives in shadows. For the million Uyghur Muslims living and dying in camps, our best tool at this time is shedding light.
Email or call (202.224.3121) your Members of Congress and demand their support for the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019, condemning China’s internment of Uyghur Muslims. Already cosponsored (House/Senate)? Even Members of Congress appreciate a thank you for a job well done!
