Today’s Action: Save the date for the December debates

Hard to believe it, but the sixth round of Democratic candidate debates are next week, Thursday, December 19 — the last of 2019.

And the field for this debate has narrowed considerably with only six candidates qualified so far: Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Tom Steyer, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren. The remaining candidates have just a few more days to meet the increased donation and polling standards. For introductions, check out our OD Action candidate profiles!

The closer we get to the state primaries, the most important it is what we truly understand each candidate’s platform – because we want complete confidence in our choice for Trump’s eventual opponent.

Save the date for the sixth round of Democratic presidential candidate debates on Thursday, December 19. Invite your family and friends to join you for a watch party!

This is, notably, likely to be the first all white debate stage for the 2020 presidential election cycle. With Senator Kamala Harris dropping out of the race, and other candidates-of-color struggling to meet the qualifications, we’re seeing a shift in the demographics at least for the moment.

It’s a signal as any that as far as we have come, we still have further to go as a party, and we must continue to push for equal representation. While we’re disappointed to see an all white debate, we also know that the Democrats who share the stage next week are committed to American diversity and true equal representation in our government — a far cry from the Party on the other side.

On thing is clear if we want to continue our progress and avoid being set back decades in our goal of true equality, we will need to elect a Democratic President in 2020, but we need to choose wisely and make an informed decision.

So mark your calendar for the next Democratic presidential candidate debates on Thursday, December 19. And gather your friends and family to make it an evening of Democratic discussion!
