Today’s Action: Amazon boycott THIS WEEK to support unionizing workers!

Workers at an Amazon warehouse in Bessemer, Alabama are “primed” to become the first Amazon employees to join a union. And it’s been a long, difficult journey to get here. Amazon is notoriously anti-union and aggressively union-busting, while maintaining some of the worst working conditions in the country.

The workers at the Bessemer warehouse are facing unrelenting anti-union pushback from Amazon, who have even pressured local officials to change the timings of red lights outside the warehouse to reduce pro-union organizers’ abilities to talk to employees waiting at red lights.

Whether you’re a union-member, a worker seeking unionization, or someone who recognizes that unions are the absolute best way for workers to protect themselves from unsafe and inhumane working conditions, you can support the Bessemer Amazon workers: boycott Amazon this week.

Join the nationwide boycott of Amazon, all Prime streaming services, and Alexa technologies TODAY through Saturday, March 13! Spread the word on social media with the hashtag #BoycottAmazon.

Amazon had already become an essential service to many American families, from the convenience of online shopping to the streaming services and technology. But these conveniences have been paid for on the backs of mistreated workers…and then the pandemic hit.

Amazon’s anti-labor sentiments have caused many warehouses to flood with virus outbreaks, with worker safety a lower priority than pushing through record sales. Meanwhile, CEO Jeff Bezos’ personal income has grown from $73 billion to peaking over $200 billion since the start of the pandemic. And Bezos was the richest man in the world before COVID-19.

We already had plenty of reasons to boycott. Let’s support the workers.

#BoycottAmazon runs NOW through Saturday, March 13, in support of unionizing Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama! Don’t cross the virtual picket line!

PS — Please don’t forget to sign the petition to raise the minimum wage to $15, and be sure to follow OD Action on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
