Today’s Action: Take Back the House
Yesterday, Democrats got an unexpected boost for their chances of taking back the House when one of the most powerful Republicans in Congress announced that he would retire after this year rather than face voters who are rightfully furious about his party’s betrayal of the public trust.
A record 31 Republicans have announced they will not seek re-election to Congress, with more expected to announce in the coming weeks — and it’s no accident. Trump’s enablers behaved as if no one was watching as they pursued a reckless agenda that enriched their wealthy donors at our expense, but we let them know we were watching and would hold them to account.
In 2017, we set the stage for a wave to get us back on a course for stability, reason, and strength. In 2018, we seal the deal.
There will be 70 highly competitive House elections this year, and Swing Left is connecting people in areas where they can have an outsized impact immediately.
Simply click on Swing Left’s connection tool, type in your zip code to find the swing district nearest you, and Swing Left will tell you how to connect with the people laying the ground work for a big Democratic win in 2018.
The resistance has done an amazing job of holding this regime in check last year, but stopping the Trump agenda for good means taking Congressional control away from the president’s Republican enablers and returning it to real progressive leaders.
That work is key to everything we’ve been fighting for, and
it starts now.
PS — Please don’t forget to sign the petition telling Trump if he wants to drill offshore he must start at Mar a Lago, and join the Americans telling the Senate to decriminalize marijuana!
